International audienceThe aim of this paper is to clarify the changes in relationships work between the professionals and the patients with advanced cancer, in a context of reduced hospital stays and rationalization of care. Drawing on an ethnographic study in cancer services and palliative care, the article shows how the patient’s norm as a « subject » and « person » mobilized by caregivers tends to vary according to the context of care.
